SAMPLE APPLICATIONS

Here are some of the ways to use our flexible GATOR board. Also see the Circuit Ideas page for more details and schematics on interfacing the GATOR board in your applications.

The GATOR board’s voltage output allows you to power external devices. Experiment with low-power servo motors using only your GATOR board -- no need for a separate power supply, breadboard, or timer chip. Our software’s built-in PULSES application lets you easily set the servo’s position.

All you need is a computer -- the GATOR board is powered directly from your computer’s USB port, it is programmed through the USB port, and communicates with our free GUI software over the USB port. It doesn’t get any simpler than this.

Use our GATOR board as a stepper motor controller. You provide the stepper driver, motor, and power supply. The GATOR board and accompanying free software handle linear acceleration, precise relative and absolute positioning, speed control, and current control. See our Circuit Ideas page for some sample circuits and stepper driver suggestions.

It’s never been easier to control a stepper motor in a flexible, affordable way. When you’re done with the stepper motor application, you can use our GATOR board for other things. Try doing that with a dedicated (and more expensive) motor controller!

Light LED’s directly from our GATOR board using your own application or our built-in IO application. You don’t even need current-limiting resistors because 510Ω resistors are already in series with each I/O pin. All you need for an LED light show are a handful of LED’s and some imagination.

Our boards are a perfect way to quickly get started with robotics. The board can run from both USB power and from batteries (8V-15VDC), all of its I/O’s are fully protected, and its small size means it easily fits into many robot chassis. Use our ready-to-run applications to experiment with your motor subsystems, then write your own custom control app and upload it to our board for total control.
