FTDI Drivers

Our GATOR Plus+ board uses free drivers from FTDI for its USB interface. You will need to install these drivers prior to using our software. If you do not have these drivers installed you will see the following error when you try to run our software:

Follow the steps below to install the drivers.

STEP 1:

Go to the FTDI driver site and download the self-installing executable file for your platform. Save it to your Desktop or somewhere easily accessible. Most users will want the file shown here for Windows XP/Vista:

STEP 2:

Run the self-installing executable you downloaded from FTDI.

Nothing much will happen beyond a few command windows opening and closing. And in fact, the drivers will not yet be installed, they will be in a “holding area”. To actually install the drivers, plug in your GATOR Plus+ board.

STEP 3:

Plug in your GATOR Plus+ board. Like we told you in Step 2! The drivers won’t install until they see a device that needs them.

Windows will go through its “Found new hardware” information balloons. Wait until you see the “Your device is now ready to use” message.

STEP 4:

Your device is now ready to use! Go ahead and start our software. It’s pretty simple to figure out, but we have a quick-start introduction you can read through as well.
